EYELASH EXTENSIONS
Q. What are semi-permanent eyelash extensions?
A. They are single strands of synthetic hair made to replicate a natural eyelash. They are applied to each individual eyelash for a natural look.
Q. What do they look like?
A. They look and feel completely natural if they are applied correctly. They come in a variety of lengths and thicknesses.
Q. How long to semi-permanent eyelash extensions last?
A. When applied properly, eyelash extensions can last the full life cycle of your natural lash. The client must also follow the after care instructions.
Q. How often should I touch up the eyelash extensions?
A. We recommend having refills every two to three weeks. A natural eyelash sheds every 60 to 90 days and is replaced by the growth of a new eyelash. Each of your natural lashes is at a different point in the life cycle.
Q. Can I swim, shower and exercise while wearing eyelash extensions?
A. Yes. However, wait 24 hours after the procedure to allow for adequate bonding time.
Q. What is the application process?
A. You will relax on a comfortable treatment bed in a private room. With soft music playing, most clients will fall asleep. It takes about 90 minutes to apply a full set. The fills will take about 30-45 minutes.
Q. Do I pay more for an experienced pro eyelash stylist?
A. No. At the Grapevine Studio, you will always be serviced by a 9 year eyelash expert.
ELECTROLYSIS
Q. What is electrolysis?
A. Electrolysis is for women and men with unwanted hair growth who want smooth, carefree skin. Hair can be safely and permanently removed from almost any body part including eyebrows, upper lip, chin, bikini line, underarms, breasts and back.
Q. How does electrolysis work?
A. The treatment is delivered through a single, sterile probe that is gently inserted into the hair follicle. You will not feel the insertion. When the probe reaches the end of the follicle, where the hair root meets the dermal papilla (the blood source to the hair follicle), a small amount of heat is emitted (which feels like a tingle). This heat dehydrates the bulb and basically cauterizes the junction between the hair root and the papilla. Without a blood source, the follicle dies. As no other device for hair removal has the unique identification of destroying the dermal papilla of a hair, only electrologists are allowed to claim permanent hair removal in their advertising. No other hair removal devices, including lasers, have been able to achieve this definition.
The Food and Drug Administration and the American Medical Association recognize electrolysis as the only permanent method of removing unwanted hair.
Q. What electrolysis treatment does the Grapevine Studio use?
If you tried electrolysis in the past and didn't have good results, let The Grapevine Studio introduce you to the blend treatment. The blend treatment is more versatile than other electrolysis techniques. The blend treatment allows heat to be applied at a continuous, controlled rate, allowing deeper, more thorough treatment of each follicle. Treating each hair takes a little longer with the blend than other methods, but it is superior in the permanence of its effects. The percentage of regrowth after the blend treatment is significantly smaller than with other techniques.
A less successful, commonly used electrolysis method, the flash high-frequency technique, restricts the amount of time heat can be applied, often causing the hair to be under treated.
Q. How does electrolysis compare with temporary hair removal methods?
A. Temporary methods such as depilatories can irritate the skin. Electric tweezers and waxing actually stimulate hair growth by increasing its blood supply. This strengthens the hair and can cause new growth to be thicker and more unsightly than the original hair.
Q. What can I expect with electrolysis?
A. A slight, temporary reddening of the skin occurs during or immediately after treatment. The procedure has been described as pinching rather than painful. How it will feel to you depends on the area being treated and your tolerance for discomfort. Taking Advil or Tylenol about 30 minutes before treatment helps considerably. We apply tea tree oil after treatment to soothe the skin and recommend using it between treatments to help condition your skin.
Q. How many treatments are required?
A. Most hairs must be treated more than once to permanently disable the growth center. Also, hairs may be dormant at certain times of the year.
For this reason, we recommend 15 minute to 1 hour treatments (depending on the area of the body treated) at one week intervals for several months. This efficient treatment plan will give you the beautiful, smooth result you seek.
